Chai Wok Kosher Asian Opens in Surfside
Chinese & Sushi Restaurant Serves Great Flavors
New to Surfside, Chai Wok is a casual, sophisticated restaurant specializing in authentic Chinese fare and Japanese Sushi. The second outpost of the popular restaurant run by Miami native and serial restaurateur Danny Gordon, Chai Wok serves a variety of culturally-inspired, artfully-displayed Asian dishes with a focus on the Asian tradition of wok cooking.
A wok is a versatile cast iron, round-bottomed cooking vessel, originating from China that is used to both sauté and fry foods. Using this centuries-old technique, Chai Wok serves up wok-fired chicken, delicious beef entrées, and family-style noodles and rice as well as the restaurant’s take on Japanese sushi.
Chai Wok Signature Dishes
The menu at Chai Wok is a tribute to a range of popular Asian dishes including both traditional Chinese fare and American favorites such as General Tso’s Spicy Chicken, Hunan Noodles and Crispy Beef.
Perfected by the restaurant’s chefs, the crispy beef is made with crunchy strips of marinated beef, bell peppers and sliced onions, mixed with a tangy house-made sweet and spicy sauce and topped with sesame seeds for a nutty flavor. For those looking for a bigger meal, the classic Moo Shu with hoisin sauce and four thin pancakes is served family style.
Alongside these dishes, Chai Wok also has a robust sushi menu offering Japanese sushi and sashimi al la carte or as platters; a sashimi dinner has 20 pieces of sashimi, chef’s choice. For rolls, the restaurant has all the classics plus 30 different signature rolls that boast unique flavor combinations and fun names. There is the Lego My Ego (tempura shrimp and crab), the Fuji Roll (fuji apple and tuna) and the South Beach roll, a no rice roll with tuna and crab salad, honoring those following the South Beach diet.
Here, there is a dish for everyone, from wontons to spicy tuna. The plates are generous, the prices reasonable, and the ingredients are fresh. The chefs’ hand-select produce, meats and seafood, and are actively creating new recipes and cooking techniques. The food also adheres to Glatt Kosher standards, showcasing that the restaurant operates under a stricter standard of kashrut, also referred to as the Jewish dietary laws.
233 95th Street
The new restaurant has a sleek, modern setting with bright red chairs, shiplap siding and a soothing grey and black color palette. It’s bright and clean and has space for an easy lunch for two or a family dinner for the group.
Chai Wok is also a great option for meals on a budget - there are lunch and dinner specials daily. For those who want to dine out, Chai Wok offers online ordering for takeout or delivery at www.chaiwokmiami.com. Happy dining!
