#InsideSurfside with LAHH Salon

By: Surfside Aug 29, 2019

In the Town of sand and sun, how do the women of Surfside look their best? With the help of professionals, of course! While Surfside is home to several beauty salons - from hair salons to nail salons, and more – LAHH Salon provides great service.

Surfside’s Go-To Beauty Salon

Whether you're looking to shake up those tresses or try out a whole new look for the summer, LAHH Salon is the place to go. A stylish space with services for hair, makeup and beauty, the salon is a local favorite.

The name LAHH stands for “Life’s About Healthy Hair”.  Owner Emily Safran says, “We eat sleep and live that motto!” She continues, “We really care about every client and we make sure we keep the integrity of each client’s hair, from the products we use to the process of hairstyling.”

For Emily, that also includes a dedication to natural hair products. As an Aveda Salon, LAHH works with the original natural beauty brand whose products are 93 to 97 percent naturally derived. As great as these natural products are, they’re only a part of the service.

“I love making people feel and look beautiful. Every client is so unique and I am so blessed with the team I have and the clients who have supported me from the start,” says Emily. She says that she has always loved beauty. “Ever since I was a little girl, I loved hair! I played with my barbies and even cut my own hair,” she says. Growing up in Long Island, New York, Emily would go to the salon with her mother and grandmother for their weekly appointments. “They lived in our local salon! I was always mesmerized by the stylists and they all knew that one day I would own my own salon.”

After graduating from the Aveda Institute, Emily held positions at some of New York’s top salons including John Barrett and Oscar Blandi. She moved to Miami to work in product side of the industry, educating salon owners about the cult-favorite, Oribe. “That’s when I realized how much I wanted to own my own salon. Really, the rest was history,” she says.

At the salon, color and blowouts are the two most popular services. As for summer trends, Emily says that clients are loving beach waves this summer. The hair style, made popular by celebrities, is perfect for South Florida and summer vibes. She says to get the “I-just-left-the-beach-and-there's-still salt-in-my-hair waves” look stylists use a blow dryer and curling iron. “We prep hair roots with Aveda Volumizing Tonic, then I use Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair on mid to long-length hair, for conditioner and heat protection. For loose waves, I curl the hair with an iron and finish with Air Control Hair Spray,” she says. The products are available at the salon and the style can be done following a haircut or as part of a blow dry service.

This has been a busy summer for LAHH, with events at Miami Swim Week, a busy calendar of editorial work and a number of bridal bar pop-ups and styling for summer brides. In the Fall, Emily says the salon will be working at New York Fashion Week.

When Emily and the team aren’t traveling (they travel often to clients) they love hanging in Surfside. “I love the beach, I love the restaurants, I love the shopping, and most importantly, I love seeing my clients walking around downtown,” she says. Emily purchased the salon from a friend but was drawn to the area first, “I just fell in love with the area, I love the sense of community here.”

She considers LAHH to be a neighborhood salon, “We know our clients and their kids and their husbands. We are a New York studio feel in the heart of Miami Beach. I think that’s what makes us standout from most salons in Miami.” For visitors looking for a local experience to treat your tresses, or perhaps a makeup application before a night on the Town, look no further.

Tips from LAHH Salon

LAHH Salon is dedicated to providing a relaxing, stylish and modern salon atmosphere with excellent service that is backed by superior knowledge. For those with color, Emily recommends wearing a hat at the beach or when walking around to make sure color doesn’t fade. “I always say to use a heat protector in your hair to avoid any sun damage,” she says. “And deep conditioner masques are a great way to go to the beach to hydrate while you tan.”
