Celebrate with the Sounds of the Season

By: Surfside Dec 18, 2018
This holiday season Surfside is thrilled to announce The Inaugural Glenn Douglas Winter Chamber Music Festival by the Sea. Sponsored in part by the Surfside Tourist Board, this is the first year of the Winter Chamber Music Festival, comprised of three concerts happening in Bal Harbour, Bay Harbour Islands and Surfside.
In a series of concerts, guests will hear a variety of pieces by some of the world’s greatest composers, including Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schulhoff, and Schumann performed by a group of internationally-renowned classical musicians from the English Chamber Orchestra, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

About the Founder

The feature performer and founder of the festival is violinist Shana Douglas. Shana is an American violinist who currently lives and works in London, who dreamed of hosting a chamber music festival to toast the season with a series of concerts that celebrate the joys of life and music. The festival, named after her late father, an avid music lover, will bring classical music out of the concert hall and into intimate venues at the area’s most elegant venues.
Shana is a dedicated chamber and orchestral musician, traveling the world to perform. She has been featured as a soloist with orchestra twice at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC and is also the artistic director of the “Accord et a Cordes” Chamber Music Festival, which takes place in the South of France during the summers. Shana is accompanied by a group of talented musicians who regularly appear at revered concert halls such as Carnegie New York, Musikverein Vienna, and the Sydney Opera House.
